The North West Tourist Board undertakes extensive on-site research over the 2 days of the event so that we are constantly able to react to the changing market.
A summary of the results from 2006 are included below:
- The total economic impact based on visitor numbers of 100,000 is £2,102,000.
- There was almost an even split between the proportion of males (58%) and females (42%) attending the event.
- The show has wide appeal - 78% of people attending the event were visitors to Southport with most coming from Merseyside or Lancashire.
- The most popular visiting group was a family including children (37%).
- 33% were influenced by a newspaper advert.
- 22% were influenced by the internet
- 69% said the Airshow rated above average.
- 32% said the event publicity and promotion was very good.
- 48% said the Red Arrows was the most enjoyable aspect.
