Three of the country's best loved comedians sign up for Comedy Week - Justin Moorhouse, Jimmy Carr and John Bishop........


Southport is one of the UK's leading destinations for exceptional festivals and events, a massive programme that extends throughout the year, so whenever you visit us at England's Classic Resort, you'll find something to do.

The town welcomes hosts a sensational Food and Drink Festival each May, followed by the internationally renowned Jazz Festival which sees a host of great names, old, new and international decend on the town. Southport played host to the British Open Golf at Royal Birkdale Golf Course in July and the rest of our fabulous events programme includes Summer Classics - Music in the Park, a picnic style weekend of concerts with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Southport Flower Show in August and the spectacular seafront military display,Southport Airshow, the largest show of it's kind in the northwest.


2008 is also the 10th Anniversary of the British Musical Fireworks Championships and to tie in with European Capital Of Culture Year in Liverpool we are celebrating by inviting all past British Musical Fireworks Champions back to Southport for a Champion of Champions Event, which will be the most spectacular explosion of pyrotechnics you'll see this year.

.....Halliwell Jones BMW and Southport Tourism's events department have teamed up to promote the resorts events programme. The new BMW 1 series car will sport details of some of Southport's major events dates.

Previous big names appearing at Southport have included Joe Pasquale, Jimmy Carr, Jeff Green, Alan Carr, Jamie Cullum, Courtney Pine, Michael Ball, Heather Small, Russell Watson and George Benson, and we've had visits from the Red Arrows, the spectacular Eurofighter and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
