Wayfarers Shopping Arcade is a striking Grade II listed building and since opening in October 1898 has been attracting shoppers to sample the treats within its beautiful glass roofed environment situated in the heart of the town's famous boulevard, Lord Street.
Open seven days a week, visitors can indulge themselves at more than 30 stylish individual shops and cafes set on two floors. Choices include famous some names and these are complemented by an array of independent retailers specialising in everything from designer fashions and shoes, unique handbags, traditional sweets, baby and children's wear to homeware, gifts and sporting memorabilia.
Wayfarers is also home to a bronze statue of local Steeplechasing legend, Red Rum, who trained on the sands at Southport, with his unequalled record 3 wins and 2 seconds in the Grand National.
24th November - 29th December - Sefton Art Group Exhibition
Members of Roy Munday's art classes which he runs on behalf of Sefton Council will be returning to exhibit their paintings in Wayfarers Shopping Arcade.
The group have held several exhibitions in Wayfarers and have proved popular with shoppers. It's also an ideal opportunity to come along and talk to the artists, especially if you've ever thought of taking up art. They will be on hand to give you both information and inspiration each day from 10am to 4pm.
30th November - 24th December - Santa's Grotto
Father Christmas will visit Wayfarers Shopping Arcade each weekend until Christmas from Saturday 30th November from 11am - 4pm and is looking forward to meeting lots of girls and boys. He will also be here on Monday 23rd December from 11am - 4pm. On Christmas Eve he will have to leave at 2pm as he has such a busy night ahead of him. Each child who visits the grotto will be rewarded with a gift as a special memento of their time spent with Father Christmas.

The Captain's Band, alias Chris Devereux and Brian Rawsthorne, will be performing a mixed set of traditional songs and folk carols. We aim to raise funds for the well-known and respected UK charity TEARFund.
