Heritage Open Days - St Monica’s Church

St Monica's Church

Visit St Monica's Church as part of Heritage Open Days across the region.

St Monica’s Church (1936) was designed by Liverpool architect F.X. Velarde. Strongly influenced by the European Modern Movement, the church has a massive tower with external sculpture by H. Tyson Smith. A surprising building to find in suburban Bootle. Pevsner called it “an epoch-making church for England”. Grade II Listed.
