Southport International Jazz Festival

Southport's successful Jazz Festival, now in its seventh year, attracts headline names from the world of jazz, to perform live in the resort and is staged over a four day period in a number of different venues around the town. The venues incorporated include theatres, shops, arcades, hotels, bars, clubs, parks, bandstands and restaurants. All the principal venues are within easy walking distance, making for a terrific Festival party atmosphere.
North West Motor Show

The Motor show is a great day out for the whole family with multiple motoring attractions including Vintage, Veteran and Classic Cars, Car and Motorcycle live action demonstrations, Motorcycle & Mini Bike Displays, Customised cars, Town Centre Parade, Children's Car Rides, Motor Dealer Displays, Americana Display, Military Vehicle Displays, Super Sports Cars, TV and Film Cars and a Children's Adventure Village. The event takes place in Victoria Park. A prize-giving ceremony concludes the weekend.
Summer Classics - "Music in the Park"

This event, now into its sixth year, takes the form of a series of picnic style outdoor concerts. The event's annual partner, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra perform an evening concert of popular classics and a family themed afternoon concert. Artists who have performed at the Summer Classics include George Benson, Jamie Cullum, Russell Watson, Rick Astley and Michael Ball.
British Resorts & Destinations Association Search for A STAR! (North West Area Competition)

This competition is the largest and longest running professionally organised amateur contest in the UK entertainment profession, now in its 31st year. The contest consists of a number of regional heats and a "Regional Final". Singers, bands, comics, impressionists, magicians are all welcome. The regional winner represents the resort of Southport and the North West in the "National Grand Final". The total prize money available is just under £7,000.
Southport Airshow & Military Display

The airshow was established 13 years ago and is staged over two days. It's a fantastic family event and is recognised as the North West's largest Air show. It features a comprehensive flying programme of military and civilian aircraft, including the latest fast jets, vintage aircraft, helicopters, aerobatic aircraft and parachute displays. There are also flight simulators and military vehicles on site and there is a central entertainment arena including interactive features and displays.
British Musical Fireworks Championships

One of Southport's most spectacular events providing a visual and aural feast of entertainment over one weekend. Six of the UK's top professional firework display companies compete for the prestigious title. Two exciting musical displays are fired each evening, illuminating the Southport skyline and casting magnificent reflections across the resort's victorian Marine Lake.
Southport Comedy Week

11 days of comedy showcasing a fantastic line-up from the North West's freshest talent as well as some of Britain's well known and favourite names on the comedy circuit. Previous performers include Jimmy Carr, Jethro, Barry Cryer, Jeremy Hardy, Jeff Green and Mark Steel.
Christmas Lights Switch-on & Grand Parade

This event kicks off Southport's Christmas festivities and encompasses a whole afternoon's entertainment in front of the Town Hall on Lord Street. There are live music performances, a grand Christmas parade, featuring "Father Christmas and his real reindeer", "The illuminated electric light parade" and many local community group floats and walkers. The parade, which follows a route through the town, culminates with a celebrity switch on of the Christmas Lights.
