With Southport as it's capital, England's Golf coast has a rich and diverse golfing pedigree and is home to the world's highest concentration of championship links courses. It includes three of the top-20 famous 'Royal' courses and seven of the top-36 superb courses in the UK and Ireland.

The world-famous Royal Birkdale course has held The Open eight times, and hosts it again in July 2008. Less than an hour's drive away to the north, lies Royal Lytham St Annes and to the south, Royal Liverpool on the scenic Wirral peninsula. Together these world-renowned venues have hosted the Open Championship no fewer than 29 times since 1997.
