Getting to Southport

Getting to Southport by Car

From the South, take the M6 to exit 26; the M58 will take you to Ormskirk and then take the A570 to Southport. From the North, follow the A59 from Preston (exit 31 from the M6) and then follow the signs to Southport.

Getting to Southport by Air:

Daily flights are scheduled to Liverpool John Lennon Airport from Dublin, Belfast, Cork, The Isle of Man, Alicante, Amsterdam, Brussels, Nice, Malaga, Madrid, Barcelona, Geneva, Paris, Palma and a number of other cities. You can also fly into Blackpool from both UK and European cities.

Getting to Southport by Sea:

Daily sailings are scheduled to Liverpool from Dublin, Belfast, The Isle of Man. Also daily sailings are scheduled to Holyhead from Dun Laoghaire.

Getting to Southport by Rail and coach:

Regular services to Southport operate throughout the year. A fast and frequent rail service runs between Liverpool City Centre and Southport. Rail connections to Southport from Scotland, the North, and the rest of the country are available via Manchester and Wigan stations.

National Express coaches serve Southport from all major UK towns and cities.

Once you have arrived in Southport, it's easy to get around.
There are a number of local taxi companies who can transport you door to door. There's also an efficient local bus service available. If you fancy a guided bus tour of the resort, there's an excellent open-top sightseeing bus tour available, ever popular with visitors.

For up to the minute traffic and travel information, along with great music, you can always tune into Dune FM at 107.9FM, Southport's very own local radio station.

If you require assistance when planning your visit to the resort, or help to make the most of your stay once you have arrived, then simply contact the Southport Tourist Information Centre. The centre is centrally located within the town centre on Lord Street, and the enthusiastic staff will be only too pleased to assist you with your enquiry.
