Traffic and Travel

When planning your journey to the Southport Air Show allow plenty of time for your journey. The gates open at 18:00 on Friday Night and 10:00 on Saturday/ Sunday - we advise you get to the show for as close to this time as possible. Car parks open an hour earlier.

On your journey to the Southport Air Show you can tune into our dedicated Air Show Radio 87.7FM -  this will keep you updated with traffic news. You can also tune in during the air show for commentary on each air display, interviews and great music.

Plenty of entertainment...

If you arrive early there is plenty to do in the town centre and once you have your wristband you can come and go as you please. Or why not head over to the Air Show Village where you can see the military who will have a diving water tank, a climbing wall and much more.

Or pop over to the beach and you can have a go at the paintball range, bungee trampolines or look around at the military vehicles. There is plenty to keep the little ones entertained!

Travelling by train

Northern Rail and Merseyrail operate frequent trains to Southport. The nearest train station is Southport, about a 10 minute walk from the event site.

Parking

Please see our dedicated parking section.

Travelling home

Traffic leaving the Air Show can get congested; however delaying your journey by as little as an hour can have an impact on your travel time. If you have parked on the beach then don’t worry, you can leave your car with ease knowing that the tide will not come in – the Southport Air Show is organised around low tide so your car is perfectly safe.

A few ideas of things you can do to delay your journey include...

  • Grab a bite to eat at one of Southport’s many restaurants, catering for all tastes and parties we are sure you will find something you fancy. Search our great selection of restaurants in Southport here
  • Head over to Ocean Plaza for a game of bowling at Premier Bowl & Laser or catch the latest film at the cinema.
  • Southport Pleasureland also opens until late and operates a ‘Pay as you Ride’ scheme so you experience a few thrills before you head home.
  • Keep tuned into Air Show Radio  for traffic and travel news.

We hope you have enjoyed your time at the Southport Air Show and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
