Planning on coming to the #SouthportFoodFest this weekend? As a team with over 10 years’ experience of going to the festival (and huge foodies) we have put together an essential guide to getting the most out of your weekend.

First of all get the train… there will be plenty of drink flowing, you don’t want to be driving

American cocktails, drunken watermelon, wines, beers, fresh lemonade, prosecco, slush, Pimms and a lot more to sup in the (hopeful) sun! Unless you have a designated driver it is best to leave the car at home.

Northern Rail and Merseyrail have train services coming into Southport frequently from all over the North West and the park is a ten minute walk away. Arriva also run frequent bus routes across Southport.

And remember, drink responsibly!

Do a full sweep / circuit of the site before you buy any food!

Check it all out and don't make the same mistake as we have all done and grab the first thing that takes your fancy. Even those Man V Food champions amongst you will run out of steam (and space) before you get half way round. The Street Food all continuously so you can do a sweep then decide.

Come on an empty stomach....there is plenty on offer - this year is bigger than last year too so there is more to fit in!

Thai Hot Food , American Hot Dogs & Burgers, Bubble n Squeak with a variety of toppings, Fresh Crepes, Korean Food, Mexican Street Food, Pizza, Hog Roast, Indian Food, Chinese BBQ Street Food, Toasties, Strawberries & Cream, Fish Finger Butties, tapas croquettes, Indian Samosas, Squid & Sweet Potato Fries, Vegan & Vegetarian, American Style Buffalo Wings, Milkshakes ...the list goes on!

Wear trousers/jeggings/jeans with an elasticated waist…or at least something to comfortably accommodate a full tummy!

And don't forget to wear comfortable shoes....the Festival is in a grassed park so the stiletto heels are not an ideal choice!

Bring a bag for life…there is plenty to buy and take home.

Coffee Beans, Handmade Farmhouse Cheeses, piggy goodies,  Premium Distilled Gin, Chilli Products - sauces, chutneys, pickles, spice blends, seasoning, Infused Balsamic Oils & Salts, Smoked Garlic, Cake Mixes in Glass Jars...you name it, we have got it!

Bring a blanket - make a base

If the weather is nice then the park is a lovely place to chill out and relax. Footballs, cricket sets, Frisbees ... all welcome …. That’s assuming you can still move after eating half your own body weight in food!

Enjoy the entertainment

Throughout the day there will be music from local bands and musicians, cocktail flaring competition and more.

Take the kids to the children's area.

As a few of us mum's here know how important it is to keep the kids entertained. It can make or break a day out! We have provided a bigger children's area with critters, crafts, face painting, storytelling, and soft play area with Creation Station. Near the marquee there is also a comfortable breastfeeding and changing area which will also provide shade if it is really sunny.

And finally....

IT’S FREE!

  • Drink plenty of water, especially if you are here all day and especially if you are consuming alcohol.
  • Bring the sunscreen…and the sun!
  • Follow this guide and you are guaranteed to have a brilliant, food filled day.
