Explore this Summer

Immerse yourself and experience something new or explore something different on your next adventure to Southport. Make the most of your time here by exploring Southport's culture and natural beauty.

There’s no shortage of cultural activities, things to do and places to stay in Southport, you’ll always find something that will create days to remember.

Day 1

Morning

Explore our classic seaside town by taking the Historic Heritage Trail on Lord Street, or take a walk through the many parks and gardens in Southport - steeped in history and enriched with nature - you can easily lose a few hours.

Afternoon

Grab a spot of lunch on Lord Street, whether you step back in time at Nostalgia Tea Rooms full of Victorian charm and homemade food. Or sit and watch the world go by with a cold glass of wine in Remedy.

Head to The Atkinson and explore the history of Southport or enjoy the art gallery full of local talent - you can easily fill a few hours of splendour.

Evening

Southport Theatre has plenty of shows through the summer you can enjoy. You can have a pre-show dinner and then a slow stroll along the promenade back to your hotel.

Day 2

Morning

Time for an early start to make the most of exploring the coast. Jump in your car or hop on the train to Crosby beach where you will see the spectacle of 100 cast iron men - the art installation 'Another Place' by Antony Gormley.

You can spend a few hours walking along the coast before you head to Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre for lunch.

Lunch

Enjoy a spot of lunch at the Crosby Lakeside Bistro. If it is a nice day you can sit outside to eat and as it is sat on the lake, the views are lovely.

Once you have rested, time for the next walk along the coast, along to Formby Pine Woods - walk through the woods and try to spot a red squirrel, or walk along the beach were the views go on forever.

If exploring the coast doesn't take your fancy, how about a round of golf at one of the six championship courses along the Southport and Sefton coast?

Evening

Now its time to sit back and relax.

Enjoy an evening meal with fresh local produce from one of our Southport Restaurateurs Association members - this means quality ingredients, warm and exceptional service and value for money are assured, so you have the best possible dining experience.

There’s always something to entertain you in the evenings at The Atkinson or Southport Theatre from music to comedy to poetry there is sure to be something to take your fancy.

Or simple a stroll along the coast, watching the sunset and enjoying the expansive views.

Whatever your flavour - Southport has it all!

Highlights

  1. The character of Lord Street and the resort however was established during and after the 1840’s with the policy of the new landlords, especially Charles Scarisbrick, of encouraging planned residential development. The trail begins at the centre of Lord Street in the magnificent London Square. The architectural style of this imposing centrepiece is essentially classical, yet with the exception of the National Westminster Bank, the buildings are all twentieth century.
  2. Nostalgia Tea Rooms
