10 things to do at the Southport Flower Show

Are you planning trip to this year’s Southport Flower Show? Have you always planned it in your head but never quite made it? Or are you simply looking for a day out this weekend?

The Southport Flower Show has so much more than just flowers! There is plenty for the family and best of all kids go free so there is no need to break the bank!

We have put together a list of 10 ‘must see’ things at this year’s show.

1. Whether you are a keen gardener or a huge fan, don’t miss celebrity gardeners Monty Don, Carol Klein, Christine Walkden and David Domoney who will be at this year’s show over a variety of the 4 days.

2. The kid’s TV favourite Justin Fletcher from CBeebies will be there will a live show on Saturday and Sunday at this year’s show – definetly one the kiddies can’t miss!

3. C4’s Sunday Brunch chef Simon Rimmer will be at this year’s show – head over to the cookery theatre where you can see him prepare and cook a dish, along with other chefs who will be showcasing their talent.

4. TV presenter Anita Rani will be at the Celebrity Theatre on Thursday 16th and present at the Kuoni stand throughout the day to speak to guests.

5. Inspired by the theme ‘The Curious Garden’ make sure you visit the award-winning show gardens where in just under 2 weeks the competitors build show stopping gardens which will simply take your breath away!

6. One of the main highlight is the stunning floral and vegetable displays at the Grand Floral Marquee. A haven of plants, flowers vegetables and herbs where you can take inspiration from for your own garden, buy to take home or get first hand advice from the growers themselves.

7. If you love to shop there is all you need at the pop-up shopping village selling unique and unusual products for the home and garden.

8. Throughout the day make sure you keep an eye on the entertainment and live music arena. Entertainment from storytelling for the little ones to dog displays will fill gaps in-between the rest of the show.

9. Everybody loves Lego! Have a go at the Lego workshop where you can build an inspired model and take it home for a small fee!

10. Local bee keepers will be at the Honey Marquee – watch live demonstrations of honeybees performing their ‘Waggle Dance’ or take home a selection of honey products available from local bee keepers!

 

The Southport Flower Show tickets are available online or on the gate – you can drive and park in the clearly sign posted car parks or head over by train – Southport Train Station is a short walk away from Victoria Park.

Just make sure you do the weather dance and bring the sunshine!
