Autumn by the coast

Autumn is special in Southport. We can feel the change in the air, but the weather is still warm enough to enjoy al fresco drinks with friends on Lord Street.

If you are thinking about things to do on those sunnier days in autumn, then hop on the bus or train and head to Southport.

There’s something for everyone – from spending an afternoon in the park or Botanic Gardens to sharing a glass of wine with friends, we’ve got it all in Southport.

Love the change in season

There are so many ways to Love Southport in the autumn. Feeling the crunch of the leaves in our parks and gardens, the twinkly lights along Lord Street.

Spend the weekend here and feed yourself some fantastic food and drink from our array of independent bars and restaurants. Enjoy traditional pub grub with a pint of local ale, or delve into some tapas and reminisce on summer holidays. If there is a large party that all have different tastes, head to the Southport Market, where you have a choice of plenty of different cuisines!

The Autumn sunshine means can sit outside and watch the world go by on Lord Street, and the evening chill means you can head to a cosy pub and share a bottle of wine by a roaring fire.

It's a great time of year for being outdoors

If you love the outdoors at this time of year, our miles of sand, nature-filled dunes, paths and trails are calling. The Sefton Coastal Path runs 21 miles along the coast so whether it is a walk, bike ride or spot of running we have the perfect backdrop.

And at the weekend the entire family can enjoy the coast. Hop on your bikes, run after furry family members, let the kids play hide and seek...or slide down the dunes, it’s all part of the fun of spending crisp sunny days with us.

A quiet staycation by the coast

The kids have gone back to school and so the days are generally quieter. Perfect if you're looking for a quiet retreat to recharge the batteries. Linked to the motorways and railways, and within easy reach of Liverpool and Manchester, look no further. We've got various types of accommodation, from cool boutique hotels and classic B&Bs to chilled-out campsites. You are only a stone's throw away from waking up on the coast.

Don't forget your must-have bag of fish and chips on the promenade is a perfect way to end an evening, watching the sun set!
