Right now, we know, that the school holidays feel like the longest six weeks of bliss with the kids (said with a hint of sarcasm) and that they will never end.  September however is fast approaching.  There will of course be those of you out there who are ahead of the game and got in there with the early summer sales, but for most, it will be a last week dash round.  Here is our checklist of what not to forget and where to get everything:

  1. The Staples

First up of course it is uniform.  With our little ones we need 4 shirts, two cardigans and 3 skirts/pinafores as a minimum.  Marks & Spencer is a long standing go to, with excellent quality, good wearing, no iron items.  For more value, Asda has a huge range covering all the basis with great multi buy deals.  Matalan on Ocean Plaza also has a reputation for great quality that will see you through the school year with out needing to replace anything.

For the school specific items – Whittakers has you covered and they always help with sizing and fitting and offer advice and help.  Zips & Snips is a great independent, in Southport for over 15 years and stocks all local school wear.

  1. Shoes

Good fitting shoes are all important so make the time for that annual shoe measurement at Clarks. Kids love the interactive tablet they now use to measure!  Over the Moon Kids Boutique on Union Street stock top brands including every little girls favourites, Lelli Kelly.

  1. Stationary

Our favourite bit of back to school was always the new pens and pencil cases!  There are gorgeous ranges in WH Smith with some great ‘Back to School’ offers or why not treat a glitter lover to some quirky, fun pens from Claire’s.  There are great discount options in The Works with up to 80% new term ranges!

We never get bored of The Range on Central 12 for all the art supplies you could ever need, from brushes to canvases and portfolio cases.  To inspire homework to be done deck them out with a new desk and chair!

  1. Coats

The weather already has one foot in Autumn so don’t forget the coat!  TK Maxx of course has a huge range of great brands at great prices.  Mountain Warehouse have good outdoor coats and waterproofs.  Millets also has a 70% sale on right now so get there quick!  Next are also a great bet for a good wearing coat with plenty of style.

  1. PE Kit

Asda has great selection of basics for sports including cotton cycling shorts, football shorts and basic tshirts and pumps.  Sports Direct is of course has you more than covered for footie boots, trainers and kit bags. Arcade sports has all the specialist equipment your budding Olympian needs.

  1. Bags & Lunch Boxes

From the supermarkets to WH Smith. There are loads of great options. The big sports shops have a great selection of rucksacks and Poundland has brilliant value lunch box sets with their favourite characters.  The Range has a big section of packed lunch essentials and other back to school bits you never knew you needed!

  1. …..and don’t forget the basics!

Of course, with all this buying don’t’ forget to pick up socks, tights, vests and undies! And don’t worry… you have made it past the half way point, they will be back in school before you know it!
