The Southport Festival is an explosion of culture across the town.
Discover poetry, be captivated by literature, laugh out loud with comedy, immerse yourself in art or be moved by music - this is Southport Festival!
Over three days, Southport comes alive with colour and music, with events taking place throughout town centre’s venues and open spaces. With many events free there is something for everyone amongst our line-up of demonstrations, have-a-go activities and live performances.
Committed to bringing cultural activity together, and supporting the growth of talent of all ages in the industry, the Southport Festival has a diverse range of activities which will suit the entire family.
Let the little ones fall in love with the magic of theatre at The Scarecrows Wedding or a backstage dress up session, unleash your inner creativity with catapult painting, interactive workshops or our Big Street Draw.
Wander into great Southport venues to enjoy live folk, jazz and more or be taken away by the words of nationally renowned poets.
Whether you book a hotel and take in all you can over the weekend, enjoy dinner after a full day of art, laughter and magic before heading home or simply dip into one or two events – you can make the weekend your own.
Southport has an excellent range of independent restaurants so you can make a day of it with the family and book into one of our many family friendly eateries.
Or stay the night and enjoy the ever growing night life that Southport offers, gin, rum and whiskey bars, plus real ale and cocktails! Make a weekend of it by booking accommodation early.
The secret is, whatever you do, experience something brand new and create exceptional Southport memories.

Who we are…
Southport Festival is brought together through collaboration and a united sense of wanting to bring art, culture and colour to Southport.
The festival is directed by representatives from Southport Contemporary Arthouse, The Atkinson, Southport BID and Sefton Council alongside passionate members of the local arts community.
Funded and resourced by Southport BID and Sefton Council the festival is now in its second year, having been emerged from the annual Arts Trail and Jazz Festival before it.
The festival wouldn’t of course be possible without the enthusiasm and participation of the brilliant businesses, partners and venues involved, including Wesley Street Traders, Sandgrounder Radio and more.
Our aims are to bring together communities, art forms and local talent and businesses to create a diverse festival that truly has something to offer everyone!
