The Southport Festival is an explosion of literature, music, poetry, visual arts, comedy and much more across Southport's open spaces and venues. Starting in 2016, the festival saw the streets, bars, restaurants and venues in Southport full with visitors enjoying the entertainment, with most of it being FREE!
Committed to bringing cultural activity together, and supporting the growth of talent of all ages in the industry, the Southport Festival will have a diverse range of activities which will suit the entire family.
Encompassing the former Southport Jazz Festival and the Southport Arts Trail, you can expect to see street art, sand art, music, poetry readings, theatre, visual arts and a lot more being planned to make the weekend fantastic.
In the second year, plans are underway to make the festival bigger than ever. There will be four days of jazz and folk gigs, all of the old favourites from the Southport Jazz Festival, plus new artists and styles of music in venues across the town.
The little ones can get involved in a range of craft activities, theatre productions, plus beach activities for all of the family!
The Southport Comedy Festival will bring have themed activities on Saturday and Sunday and will be bringing children's comedy events to the Festival.
Poetry and Literature events will include 'An audience with...', an interactive poetry installation, children's author David Ward reading fables with more to be confirmed
Visual Arts include paint installations, local artists and a themed street art event, plus more to be confirmed.
