Time to take in some culture
Located in a stunning 19th century building, The Atkinson is a multi-art form venue offering an exciting and varied destination for families, cultural tourists and arts enthusiasts alike, with a full day and night time offer.
Throughout the year, The Atkinson’s traditional Theatre and dynamic Studio space welcome Strictly Come Dancing professionals, high calibre comedians like Jason Manford, talented musicians such as The Christians, and a range of outstanding productions from Jane Eyre to Dirty Dusting.
In The Atkinson’s museum, discover Ancient Egypt at the time of the Pharos, you can also cruise down the Sefton peninsular to discover 10,000 years of our coast. In the galleries, explore artworks from The Atkinson’s impressive collection, as well as contemporary exhibitions from international artists and displays from local practitioners.
The Southport Little Theatre is the home for the local amateur dramatics society. The venue has live productions on throughout the year.
For something a little bit quirkier, the British Lawnmower Museum is a truly unique experience. Attracting national press interest on a regular basis this is the only museum of its kind in the world, housing over 200 restored exhibits.
As one visitor reviewed on Trip Advisor “Something completely different, even if you're not into lawnmowers!”
