On Sunday's in summer the Esplanade operates as a pay on entry car park only. The park and ride buses transfer to Fairway on summer Sundays and run from 10.00 hrs to 18.30 hrs. The Esplanade park and ride is not operated on the four days of the Flower Show nor on Air Show weekend. The park and ride runs out of Fairway for Flower Show days but no park and ride is operated in the town on Air Show weekend as both sites are used for event parking. No other event precludes park and ride services at the Esplanade. No park and ride service is offered from either site on Christmas Day. In addition to this, Fairway is used as a park and ride site on Saturday and Sunday in summer and Saturday only in winter (1 Oct to 31 March).
This multi awarding winning building was designed to act as a real demonstration of environmentally sound construction methods and the impacts we all have on the environment with our energy use. The Eco Visitor Centre generates some of its power and heat requirements from renewable technologies.
The centre hosts a fully AV equipped Eco Classroom which local and regional schools can pre-book an exciting educational visit through the on-site teachers, using the classroom to learn about all aspects of the environment with purpose designed curricula based activity plans. The education at the centre was recently recognised in the Climate Change Leaders Awards, winning the “Working with Children and Young People” award. For more information about booking a school visit, please contact Darren Lloyd on 0151 934 2728. For further information about subjects available for study please visit our website.
The classroom is available for meetings and conference. For more information place contact email@example.com or phone 0151 934 4285.
The centre also acts as the welcome point for the towns hugely popular 'Esplanade Park and Ride'. Why not look around the centre when you arrive and then relax whilst you travel into Southport town centre on the buses which depart every 10 minutes. All-day parking at the Eco Centre is only £2.00 (this is subject to change so please contact the Eco-centre prior to arrival) on weekdays and Saturdays with free park and ride bus transfer in and out of Southport Town Centre.
Cycle hire is also available at Southport Eco Centre, for details please visit www.visitseftonandwestlancs.co.uk
