About

Punk, folk, art, poetry, laughter, jellyfish, theatre, pottery, story time and choirs…this is Southport Festival.

Over three days, Southport bursts into life with a huge programme of art and culture splashed throughout its venues and open spaces. Highlights for 2016 included headliners, the legendary John Cooper Clarke and The Royle Family writer Henry Normal and two days of diverse and exciting live music in the gardens.

Memories were made at Wesley Street’s annual sea festival and with jellyfish making, street drawing and art demonstrations there was plenty of activity for all generations throughout the weekend.

Music poured from venues throughout the town centre, with jazz orchestras, flamenco guitar, folk, jive and pop punk bands just some of the excellent free performances enjoyed over 3 days and nights!

Remedy had a stage outside and over the weekend the oldest and youngest of generations danced in the streets enjoying the sunshine, atmosphere and good music.

The music, colour and words will be back next year, as Southport Festival grows. So keep following us on social media for news and updates for 2018 and in the meantime share your memories, experiences and highlights with us #southportfest17.

Southport has an excellent range of independent restaurants so you can make a day of it with the family and book into one of our many family friendly eateries. Or stay the night and enjoy the ever growing night life that Southport offers, gin, rum and whiskey bars, plus real ale and cocktails! Make a weekend of it by booking accommodation early.
