About
Due to last year’s fantastic rave reviews from local press and the Everton fans, The Heart of Everton’s Badge to the Grand Old Lady is back by popular demand.
Celebrating over 125 years of Everton Footblall Club’s life at Goodison Park
Produced by Blue Park Productions
Written by Kenny O’Connell
Starring charity worker Speedo Mick
The story is based around the Everton Lock-Up (or Prince Rupert’s Tower as it is known locally) which has stood at the peak of Everton Brow since 1787 and proudly sits on Everton Footblall Club’s crest.
In the play, Everton Footblall Club have organised an event outside the Lock-Up to promote their move to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. Two Evertonians, Jim and Robbo, transpire to lock themselves in the tower with the aim of finding the lost gold of ‘Prince Rupert’.
While locked in the tower, Jim and Robbo stumble across a secret tunnel and unwittingly release the ghosts of Everton’s past, including Dixie Dean, Molly Bushell, Prince Rupert and Bessie Braddock. Each ghost takes them on a historical journey to discover the true meaning behind the heart of Everton’s badge.
Author of the play Kenny O’Connell said: This play is not just for Evertonians but for all the family. It’s a story about an amazing football club and its history but also some life lessons for our main protagonists – Jamie and Robbo. You’ll not only laugh but you’ll also cry.

Funny, poignant, moving. – David Prentice, Liverpool Echo
To capture the ideal of a club is remarkable, to do it without stepping into the realms of hype or flailing overblown praise is to be congratulated. 8.5/10 – Ian D. Hall, Sound & Vision
A show with a big blue heart. **** – Peter Grant, Wirral Globe
This is a tale of passion, dedication and loyalty, bringing together the pride of history and hope for the future, both for football and the people around you. **** – Donna M. Day, North West End
