Southport is often referred to as the floral capital of the North West and it isn't surprising when you see the beautiful landscape within and surrounding the town.
Bursting with floral splendour with a lake winding through, the Victorian Botanic Gardens in Churchtown is a burst of colour on even the gloomiest of days. Botanic Gardens has achieved a coveted Green Flag award for its excellence as a park. Open all year round, the gardens is an ideal place to escape winter or summer and with a cafe, an aviary and fernery provide shelter when needed.
Less than a mile away from Lord Street is Hesketh Park. The themed gardens and ornate fountains have been beautifully reconstructed. Stunning greenery, nature trails, wildlife, a large lake and a children’s play area means you can lose track of time and spend an afternoon enjoying family time.
King's Gardens, located on Marine Lake have been restored to former Southport elegance. The Venetian across the lake, iron shelters, community gardens, swan pedalos and an amazing children’s play area is the perfect place to make memories with the children, have a picnic and loose a couple of hours whilst not being too far away from the town centre.
Victoria Park, close to the town centre, it is an ideal park to escape with a picnic and relax or play a ball game with the family and is host to some amazing events throughout the year - the Southport Food and Drink Festival, Southport Flower Show and the British Musical Fireworks Championship to name a few!
Lord Street Gardens, on Lord Street, is the perfect spot to watch the world go by. Beautifully landscaped and with plenty of seating, the gardens offer a tranquil spot to enjoy town centre’s elegance and the wide open space along this tree lined boulevard can make you feel a million miles away.
