13th & 14th July 2024

We’re looking forward to the return of the thrilling Southport Air Show. This summer will see the return of the Red Arrows to the Sefton coast on both days of the show in July. This year’s show is on the 13th and 14th of July and will be a weekend packed with excitement!

While there will be lots to enjoy in the air, there’s a full programme of activities on the ground too. With flight simulators and static aircraft and military vehicles to explore, and so much more, it's a fantastic family day out.

Last year didn’t go to plan

We sincerely apologise for some of the problems that occurred during the 2023 Air Show. We acknowledge that there were some logistical issues that impacted the event. We understand the disappointment experienced by some attendees.

We listened to your feedback and we have taken action. The logistics for Southport Air Show have been improved for this year, with changes to traffic management and entry into the event.

The changes for 2024

We are confident that the following changes will help this year’s event run more smoothly.

Traffic

A new Traffic Management company is in place and they have established improvements to the traffic flow into the car parks. An additional car park will accommodate the parking spaces that have been lost from closing the beach parking. There will also be better signage and increased staff numbers to manage the traffic.

Entrances

There will be increased staff running the entrances and we have introduced queuing systems. The layouts have been changed to ensure a smooth and efficient entry.

Flying Displays

Last year, the Scottish Air Show took place on the same weekend and some of the flying displays were shared between the two events. This included the Red Arrows. This year, we have more control over the display timings. The Red Arrows are appearing on both days, and the display timings will be more suitable in order to give visitors time to arrive. To add to the exhilaration, they will be flying even closer to the crowds this year.

Event Programme

We will announce the full programme for Southport Air Show 2024 over the coming weeks. The Red Arrows, Typhoon, Battle of Britain, and Tutor will all be flying on both days. Keep your eyes out for future announcements on our website and social media channels.

Tickets are now priced from £12 (plus booking fee) for general admission, under 16 years of age FREE. If you want to make your family day out even less expensive, feel free to bring a picnic and set up on the beach before you enjoy an afternoon of flying.

Flying Displays

Aircraft confirmed so far are the Red Arrows, Typhoon and the Tutor who will all be appearing on both days.  More aircraft will be confirmed shortly so please check back for updates.

Attractions

Along the Marine Drive you will find stalls selling everything from sweets to clothing and there is also a producers market. You will also find flight simulators, children’s attractions, a paintball range, bouncy castles and the traditional hook-a-duck game.

You will be able to learn about school life in 1940 with our period headmistress/master from Historical Promotions. Learn about lessons being taught during the school day? Life of a child at school? Period games played in the school ground and at home. A great experience for children.

Experience WWI Poppy Making - the story behind this little flower is explained along with an interactive Poppy making activity that children (and adults) of all ages can join in. Make a felt or paper flower. Designed such that people of all ages and abilities are able to participate and take away an image of the Poppy and the reason behind its use.

Ground Attractions

The Armed Forces are located in the Military Village on Marine Drive and have a selection of equipment for you to have a look at including the RAF Typhoon facsimile.

The Mid Lancs Military Vehicle Trust members will have a display of their vehicles which they have lovingly restored For further information please go to: www.mvt.org.uk

The Lytham St Annes Spitfire Ground Display Team and their display, which includes Spitfire – ‘Lucy’ will be on the ground. The knowledgeable enthusiasts have lovingly restored “Lucy”, a Spitfire Mark IX replica, with original WW2 parts, giving the Public to get up close to this iconic aircraft.
